Cross MP3 Players Go to Africa
by Louis Powell

Yes, we made it into Ghana with the Cross MP3 Players, which had the New Testament loaded as mp3 files.  The Ghana Customs let the Cross MP3 Players through but it was a scary moment.  We were told that the Ghana Customs' agents might confiscate the Cross MP3 Players for personal gain by selling them.  The MP3 Players are valuable and easily sold since they can be used as any other mp3 players playing music.  I held tight to the bags as we made our way through Customs, entering Ghana.  At one point an agent pulled my bag that contained the Cross MP3 Players and started to open and search it.  But, as he unzipped my bag, at that very moment another agent called to him for help and I was waved on through the line.  Praises to God for His protection.

These Cross MP3 Players also included Bible teachings by Dr. Chuck Missler.  Not only were we able to bring the audio Bibles into Ghana, but 24 hours of teaching by Dr. Chuck Missler was also included on the book of Matthew on these Cross MP3 Players.  It was a very exicting day when we reached the church and shared the inspired Word of God via mp3 players with the pastors and missionaries.  Our brothers and sisters in Christ of Ghana have very little resources.  One printed Bible is shared between thirty members.  Many of their members do not have a Bible at all.  It is a very different and sad condition.  Be of good cheer, we are helping to change that.

Many people around the world are praying for our success.  Thanks goes out to all those who offered up their prayers for our Ghana trip.  The church leaders in Ghana were so thankful to have our audio Bibles.  They were overjoyed for the teaching on the book of Matthew.  Also a great "thank you" goes out to Dr. Chuck Missler (khouse.org) for allowing us to include his teachings to the missionaries and church planters in Ghana.  What a blessing Dr. Missler is to so many who are starving for the teaching of God's Word around the world.  Chuck is an inspiration to us all.  Thank you.

I think all Christians want to know more about the Bible and God's Word.  One solution to knowing what the Bible says is to listen to it.  Listening to the words of Jesus and His teachings as you drive or exercise will impact your life on many fronts.  There is nothing that provides peace like listening to the words of Jesus.  Our faith is strengthened as the Word of God enters our hearts through our listening.  You can listen to the inspired Word of God while waiting for an appointment, walking or even while shopping.  Take all those spare moments and listen to the Bible.  Receive God's insights by listening to His Word.  Receive God's peace by accepting Jesus as your Lord.

But there is a deeper gift you can receive.  You can send these Cross MP3 Players to someone in need.  Send them to Ghana, Bolivia, Vietnam, China, Mexico and many other places.  Through your prayers and donations, we want to take these Cross MP3 Players to underdeveloped countries where so many people cannot read or write.  You can give a gift to someone who has never read one word of the Bible so that they can hear the very words of Jesus.  Hearing the Bible stories that many of us take for granted, will open their minds to knowledge about who Jesus Christ is.  You know what happens when you read God's Word; it is the Living Word of God.  Great changes happen for anyone who listens to the Word of God.

Allowing others to listen to the Bible is both rewarding to you and to the receiver.  They are hearing the Word of God for the first time without depending on someone else to read it to them.  What a blessing that is for anyone.  Listening also generates excitement in their learning.  The Bible has long been the text book to teaching people to read.

Build your confidence in being a Christian by sharing the Bible with someone who cannot read.  More than 40 percent of the people in Ghana cannot read; over 35 percent in Mexico cannot read; and in many places these percentages are over 50% who cannot read.  Sending a Bible to them will not solve their problem, because they cannot read the Bible.  They can listen to the Bible if you will help us send our Cross MP3 Players to them.  Send a Cross MP3 Player with the Bible loaded on it.  This will change their lives forever.  Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.  Put your faith into action by allowing others to hear the Word of God.

But there is more.
In my recent visit to the country of Ghana of Africa and I gave these gifts of our Cross MP3 Players to members of a new church being planted in the village of Aiyinase.  The church has a membership of almost one hundred people now.  The church planter, Pastor Samuel, was so excited to receive these audio mp3 Bibles, which allows his church members to listen to the Bible any time during the day or night.  This church has very few Bibles.  In fact, some of the Sunday School teachers and pastor assistants did not have Bibles.  It is a sad condition.  So, as a gift to the church I made arrangements while I was there to send printed Bibles to the church for everyone who can read.  These Bibles are printed in their own language and will arrive very soon.  But the new members will not have printed Bibles unless we continue to support giving as this church grows.  We can always find ways to help and give to others in need, but giving a printed Bible or an audio Bible is a gift that lives.

Remember that not many adults can read.  So having our Cross MP3 Players is an answer to prayers that have been prayed for years by the people of Aiyinase and many other villages.  Now the Word of God can reach those who cannot read as easily as those who can read.  Below are some pictures of the mission trip to Ghana.  I hope you enjoy viewing them.  You have a chance to change the world of silence when you help us provide these audio Bibles to people who cannot read.  I hope and pray you will join our efforts.

We had hoped to bring more MP3 players to give away while we were in Ghana, but there were problems in their shipping.  We are expecting to send another 500 MP3 players to Africa very soon.

GHANA IS A VERY SPECIAL PLACE
WITH SPECIAL PEOPLE.

There are no words to describe the difference in what Africa brings in just one visit.  The beauty is landscaped everywhere you go.  The people are beautiful inside and out.  Their sharing spirit will take your breathe away as you realize they do not have much, but they are willing to share what they have with you.  Their hearts crave knowledge.  But the average person lives on only 400 US dollars per year.  I could not get that out of my mind.  How many people can spare $400 per year?  That small amount will feed and house one person for a whole year.  How can that be?  Many spend $400 on a weekend sporting event with friends and family.  But the people of Ghana have hearts of gold.  They love God and want to share in His goodness.  They are indeed a special people.
